Hi,

I’m Ilka, a surface pattern designer creating joyful, modern-vintage, story-led designs for fashion, home décor, stationery, textiles, and children’s brands.

I grew up in Germany with German and Dutch roots before making my way to the United States, where I now live in the charming town of Mount Dora, Florida. Along the way, I’ve been shaped by time spent in creative cities like New York, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale.

My professional journey began in business, but my passion always pulled me toward the visual world. I went on to study graphic design and later explored interior design, experiences that deeply influence how I think about color, space, and how patterns live in real environments.

After 15 years as a Creative Design Manager in the tourism industry, I chose to follow a long-held dream and transition into surface pattern design. This path allows me to blend storytelling, color, and thoughtful composition into designs that feel meaningful, calm, and visually engaging across a variety of surfaces and products.

I believe the patterns we surround ourselves with can bring warmth, personality, and a sense of connection to everyday life, turning ordinary products and spaces into something a little more meaningful.

I am open to licensing and thoughtful brand collaborations around the world.

Thank you for being here, I’m glad you found your way to my creative world. ♡

Please reach out if you’d like to collaborate, have a question, or simply want to say hello.
